Jerome Joseph B. Arnaldo is SLB’s litigation specialist, actively handling tax litigation involving refunds and disputed assessments and general litigation, including local and real property tax litigation, labor and employment controversies, and intellectual property cases.
His work on tax refunds has varied from claims for refund of excess value-added tax (VAT) to income tax garnished by the Bureau of Internal Revenue to foreign exchange gains covered by income tax holiday. Mr. Arnaldo has also handled tax assessments involving pivotal issues such as validity of waivers, due process, constitutionally guaranteed tax exemption, tax treaty obligations, and tax evasion. Mr. Arnaldo’s experience in general litigation includes collection cases, injunction, nullification of BIR issuances, criminal cases, and local tax cases (for both business tax and real property tax).
Mr. Arnaldo is also active in providing advice to clients on labor issues and handling cases at the National Labor Relations Commission.
He has provided legal services to clients in various industries such as power, manufacturing, information technology, construction, business process outsourcing, and education.
